While I could read all the articles that talk about SNK being owned by some shady company who could make you disappear if you looked at them funny, I don't pretend to find any of that stuff even remotely interesting. Big evil company is a long standing trope that no one seems to like, but go on to accept anyway. My personal gripes aren't going to change a damn thing, so the big faceless asshats are getting a garenteed win regardless.
As a long time fighting game guy, all I wanna know is:
WHERE IS HWA JAI?!?
It was a pleasant surprise to see him show up in The King of Fighters XIII a few years back. He's a cool design that got overshadowed by the good-guy Muay Thai fighter on the roster, Terry's friend Joe.
I have no idea who DJ Ganacci is. Couldn't really care less about what he's done with anything, because he and the soccer goober are taking up valuable space on a roster that should feature both Duck King and Freeman as playable characters at launch.
Goofy celeb inserts aren't a new thing in fighting games. Bobby Ologun was a playable character in the PS2 port of Matrimelee, back in 2006. That was a Japanese only release, but from what I've seen of that games overall reception, the inclusion of Rage of the Dragons characters in the Arcade version was more of a big deal.
It's a fact that none of Ronaldo's groupies are going to support this game, but the hype is all SNK cares about, so it's whatever.
I will admit it was pretty cool seeing the logo for this game in the middle of a WWE ring mat. Definitatly didn't have that on my 2025 bingo card.
I'm fine with these characters being skins, at best. It makes no sense to have them take character space when Fatal Fury as a series has a lot of cats that would actually be exciting to see return in modern games.
What happened to Franco Bash? Why can't they bring him back, to flex on Chun Li, and then punch her back into the world of Street Fighter 3?
The Capcom representation with Chun and Ken are welcomed, because it means SNK and Capcom have a healthy working relationship again. We've seen what happens when these two developers play kissy face with one another. I'm all for seeing another crossover game with both companies.
I'm not at all for seeing Terry get beat up by some guy who can...apparently, swim in the air?
Wait a minute...A soccer player, and a magic swimmer...🤔
It's clear that the folks over at SNK really wanna see a new Rival Schools/Project Justice. I don't blame 'em, really. Roberto is pretty cool.
